Friday Fundamentals

This year’s Northern Skiers Club weekly Friday FUNdamentals sessions will begin on January 7th at 6:00PM at the Caribou Ski Center at Caribou High School.  Same idea as last year….adults looking to learn to cross country ski as beginners, or those looking to improve their technique a bit as intermediates, are welcome and encouraged to come join the FUN.  (For those experienced skiers looking for a hard workout…sorry…wrong night!!)

We will be learning/improving both the “classic striding” and “skate skiing” ways to cross country ski.  If you have the interest and both types of skis, great!  If not, it is still possible to learn the basics with one pair of skis.  And if you only want to focus on the classic or skating style of skiing, that’s fine too!

Plan on an hour or so….the first half hour will introduce you to the skills for that night and the second half hour, or for as long as you want to stay, to then practice those skills out on the trails.  Last year we sometimes continued well beyond 7:00PM because we were having so much FUN out in the fresh night air!  And remember, the heated ski building, with bathrooms, is there to wax in, change in, grab a bite in, or just take a break in!  Questions? jepson@gwi.net or 492-2222.   Also, when unsure about specific sessions, check out our Northern Skiers Club website at http://northernskiers.org/  for any last minute notices at any time as well as our FaceBook page at Northern Skiers Club!
